How to play Truco
Fast, bold and packed with bluffs — this isn't just a card game, it's a showdown. Here's everything you need for your first hand.
What's the game?
Truco is the ultimate card clash for 4 players (in two teams). Your mission: conquer 12 points before your opponents do. Fast, bold, and packed with bluffs – this isn't just a card game, it's a showdown.
The cards
Truco uses a 40-card deck without the 8s, 9s, and 10s. Each player is dealt 3 cards. A Flip Card is revealed to set the round's power order.
- Cards rank: 4, 5, 6, 7, Q, J, K, A, 2, 3
- The Manilhas are the four cards that come directly after the Flip Card
- Trump strength: ♣ > ♥ > ♠ > ♦
How to play
Each round consists of up to 3 tricks. The team or player who wins 2 tricks wins the round.
Feeling lucky? Raise the stakes with:
- Truco – raises the value to 3 points
- Six – go big with 6 points
- Nine – dial it up to 9 points
- Twelve – max it out with 12 points
But beware:
- If your team has 11 points, it's time for "11's Hand".
- If both teams have 11 points, then it's time for "Iron Hand". No talk. No signs. No mercy.
Smart moves
- Master the Manilhas – they rule the table.
- Use bluffing like a pro. Sometimes the cards don't matter – your face does.
- Keep the pressure on. Momentum wins matches.
